My 2 Cents Worth - Editor's Chit-Chat

Hi All!

Welcome to another Sunday with yours truly and thanks so much for letting me be a small part of your day. :~) If you're new today, a warm welcome to you. I hope you'll enjoy the issue.

The U.S. has had some weird weather this winter, hasn't it? There have been blizzards in places that don't typically get much snow and a lack of snow in places that should have it.

My two daughters live in the Albany, NY area and were among those that got hit hard on Valentine's Day. They got about 3 feet of snow in 36 hours. But at least it wasn't as bad as another area of New York that got 11 feet the week before!

With as much snow as we normally get here in northern Michigan, I can't even imagine 11 feet over a 3 day period! (And I don't want to see it either. LOL)

Speaking of my daughters - the 18 year old came home for a few days for my birthday and my youngest son's birthday, which is tomorrow. (Both of us.) She was supposed to get here Friday night, but she surprised me and showed up Wednesday night.

Apparently all of my kids wanted to come home and surprise me for my birthday but it wasn't do-able for my oldest son and daughter. My daughter has a mid-term exam for one of her nursing classes and my son and daughter-in-law just can't afford it right now.

But they promised to come this summer. It's been a year and a half since I've seen my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters, so I'm really excited. The girls are getting so big!

OK, it's time to let you get on with the rest of the issue. If you didn't get all your gifts from the Free PLR Giveaway yet, be sure you grab them now. They change every Sunday at noon, so you don't want to miss out.

I'll see you here in two weeks. Until then, be profitable!

Downline Delusion
by Rick Olsen

Are you one of the many who've gotten trapped in the
Downline Delusion? What is the Downline Delusion? It's the
belief that the results of the Many will out weigh the results
of the Few.

Many believe that Spillover will solve all of their problems.
They can just sit back, relax and ride the wave to prosperity.
They can let everyone else do the work. Guess what! Everyone
else believes the same thing so everyone rides nowhere.

Another problem with a downline business is that it isn't a
business at all. Most of these programs have no legitimate
product to sell and are nothing more than pyramid schemes.
Money is made by suckering...excuse me...recruiting other
people into the same scam...er...business.

Even if the program does have a legitimate product or
products to sell it still isn't a business. Why? Because you
aren't a business owner, you're an Independent Contractor.
You are at the mercy of the people on top. They can change
products, change prices, change commission scale. They can
do whatever they want without notice and you are the loser.

Think carefully before you become involved in a downline program.
If you truly want to succeed in a business of your own, build a
business of your own.

You will have to sell something. There's just no other way.

A man left for work one Friday a.m. But, being pay-day, instead of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend, partying with the boys and spending his entire pay check.

When he finally appeared at home Sunday night, he was confronted by a very angry wife and was barraged for nearly two hours with a tirade befitting his actions. Finally his wife stopped the nagging and simply said to him'

"How would you like it if you didn't see me for two or three days?"

To which he replied. "That would be fine with me."

Monday went by and he didn't see his wife. Tuesday and Wednesday came and went with the same results. But on Thursday, the swelling went down just enough where he could see her a little out of the corner of his left eye.

Expert Advice

Each week I'll publish some tips or advice. I'll try to cover every subject I can think of, but if you have any suggestions, please send them to me at the e-mail address listed below.

7 Ways To Shift Your Sales Into Overdrive

1. Publish testimonials you receive for your free stuff. It will increase their value and if they're viral marketing tools, you'll have more people giving them away.

2. Give your visitors a good time so they'll visit your web site again. Use a few jokes, humorous graphics and funny stories.

3. Build rapport with your potential customers by teaching them something new. Provide them with free ebooks, articles, tips, courses, etc.

4. Allow your visitors to collect things from your web site so they will stop back again and again. It can be a series of software, ebooks or articles.

5. Build a directory of freebies. It will draw tons of traffic to your web site and you can request that submitters place your link on their web site.

6. Create traffic generators that people can add to their site without doing all the work. It can be an article directory, freebie directory, web tool, etc.

7. Challenge your visitors to buy your product or service. People love a good challenge. Tell them if they can find a flaw you'll give them a refund.

It's Your Dime - Reader's Feedback

Hello Denise,

I enjoyed reading your rant in your recent newsletter!

Being courted by promotional emails, and to be dropped like a hot potato after finally purchasing the product sucks!

This guy could learn a thing or two from you. I remember how you were able to accommodate my difficulty when buying from your link. Others could only email me with, "Sorry, can't help!"

But I at least got an answer from them. Well, i do hope you get a response from them after the weekend.

As for the other guy who made that outrageous offer about making big bucks from untested leads, I can't help but think that he's just trying to make money from his list without regard to their long-term success or reputation.

Based on information coming out from established marketers, what that guy was recommending is a sure formula for being branded and penalized as a spammer and a hit-take-the-money-and-run racketeer.

And I agree with you that it was rather rude of him to scold and berate his lists like that. Instead of considering that there could be something wrong with his approach, his products, or his sales copy and presentation, it seems that his conclusion is that there's something wrong with his lists!

But the sad thing is, there will be those who are naive, uninformed, and are relative newbies who will be taken in by his promotion!

Glad that there are newsletters like yours that put out helpful information that will guide your readers from these "less-than-ethical, fast ones."

Uh-oh ... sorry. Looks like this feedback may have turned out into some kind of a ... a ... rant. Kinda infectious, this ranting thing.

Anyway, thanks for the frank editorial.

From subscriber and customer,
Ricardo Alcaraz
