My 2 Cents Worth - Editor's Chit-Chat
Hi All! Welcome to another Sunday with yours truly and thanks so much for letting me be a small part of your day. :~) If you're new today, a warm welcome to you. I hope you'll enjoy the issue. I've got some really exciting news today. Well, I think it's exciting, and I hope you do, too. :) If you were with me a couple of years ago, you might remember me telling you about a young girl from my town who was killed in a car accident. Then 5 weeks later it was discovered that she was actually alive and in a hospital in a coma. But even if you weren't one of my subscribers at the time you'll probably remember hearing about this story on the news... I'm referring to the case of mistaken identity between two college students, where one was believed dead when it was really the other one who was dead. At the time, both families wanted privacy and wouldn't talk to the media. Now, almost 2 years later, they've finally published a book about their ordeal. It will be released on March 25th. This must be one of the best human interest stories of all time! I can't wait to read the book and I already pre-ordered a copy of it. My daughter and I will probably fight over who gets to read it first. LOL I'll be getting it autographed, too, because Whitney's parents are doing a book signing in a couple of weeks at our local bookstore. Proceeds from the autographed copies are being donated to a Bible Camp in northern Michigan on behalf of both families. I'm glad they finally decided to go public with this because I think a lot of people would like to know the whole story. In fact, Whitney's parents will be on several TV shows, too. If you want to check any of them out, here's a listing: The Today Show - March 27th and 28th Dateline NBC - March 28th The Oprah Winfrey Show - April 1st Our local newspaper reported that they're being strict on the questions that can be asked for privacy reasons, but they do want the world to hear their story. Targeted Traffic Generation Through Mastery There are literally hundreds of methods of free targeted traffic generation. The problem for budding online entrepreneur is that it's easy to get caught up in trying little bits of different tactics and approaches. Possibly so much so, that none of them becomes effective. Whether you're a software developer, a graphic designer or you sell a physical product, a successful entrepreneur (online OR offline) is one who is a great marketer. Part of your online marketing recipe is the ability to consistently generate fresh new traffic to your site. Traffic through mastery means that you choose one area of traffic generation and then learn everything about it. Once you have learned everything you can, then take yourself to the next step ... and master it. In the broad scope, this might mean blogging, SEO, articles, social networking, viral videos, link directories, forums and so on. The fact that you HAVE a blog isn't going to drive targeted traffic. You also need to commit time to your blog, post often, and provide valuable content to your readers. If you're busy seeking that magic bullet to traffic, constantly looking for the next best thing, chances are you might be neglecting your traffic generation methods, because you aren't focused in any one or two areas. When you take it to the level of "mastery," you drill down even further, and BECOME AN EXPERT in that one area of traffic generation. Make that very tightly focused traffic method YOUR expertise. For example, instead of saying to yourself, "I'm going to become an expert on article generation," tweak that statement to say "I’m going to become a MASTER at increasing the number of ezines and online newsletters that publish my articles." Or instead of saying to yourself, "I'm going to work on getting free traffic from forums," you could work on something more focused like, "I'm going to MASTER how to turn forum traffic into buyers." See the difference? So how exactly do you become a master? Begin with some research. There are some great article sites on the web. For example, ezinearticles.com and articlewheel.com. Reading and learning from these sites won't cost you a penny. Read as many articles as you can on the subject, and then look for inexpensive or free reports on the subject. It will soon become clear to you who the experts already are in this area, and you can separate the wheat from the chaff. Learn what is "theory" and what actually works. Once you know WHO the experts are, then pick up some of their products and learn everything you can from your new "teachers." Consider interviewing them and creating a recording of the interview. The process will not only connect you with someone you have come to admire and hopefully respect, but in the interview itself, you will learn. You will learn BIG TIME. Well-crafted questions will help you become more knowledgeable on this area of traffic generation, and you are already now more of an expert than those starting out. As you continue to hone your craft and absorb as much as you can, you might even consider developing an infoproduct out of what you learned. Heck ... you're an expert now, right? The benefits to you are two-fold. (1) You are putting into practice a new level of focused expertise in your quest for free targeted traffic, which will produce results, and (2) You are positioning yourself to other marketers as the "go to person" ... the authority, on that particular subject. This will produce contacts, networking, JV partners, business opportunities and perhaps even new friends. So become a MASTER at one method of free traffic generation. In fact, become THE master. As you become a master, put everything into practice that you have learned and you will benefit from this in many aspects of your online business.

I thought that maybe if I acted 'crazy', then he would tell me to take a few days off. So I hung upside-down on the ceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb, so the Boss might think I was 'crazy' and give me a few days off. A few minutes later, the boss came into the office and asked, "What in the name of Sam Hill are you doing?" I told him I was a light bulb. He said, "You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for a couple of days." I jumped down and walked out of the office... When my co-worker (the blonde) followed me, the boss asked her, "And where do you think you're going?!" To which she replied: "I'm going home too. I can't work in the dark."

Online Discussion Board Advertising Posting messages on online discussion boards is a great way to get free advertising. When you post a message be sure to include your signature file at the end. Your signature file should be no more than 5 to 6 lines long. Include an attention-getting sentence telling them why they should visit your web site. Below are three types of messages you could post to online discussion boards: 1. Informative Comments Post information that would be informative to the people who participate on the discussion board. It could be an article or a study you've completed. 2. Ask Questions Post a question on the discussion board that you would like answered. This will give you a chance to meet other experts and it could lead to profitable joint ventures. 3. Answer Questions Post answers to other people's questions on the discussion board. When you answer questions you will become known as an expert on the subject. Before posting to any online discussion board read the FAQ or rules first. They will tell you what kinds of posts are allowed. Read the board for a few days before posting your message to see what type of messages are being posted.
