My 2 Cents Worth - Editor's Chit-Chat
Hi All! Welcome to another Sunday with yours truly and thanks so much for letting me be a small part of your day. :~) If you're new today, a warm welcome to you. I hope you'll enjoy the issue. I can definitely tell it's December... we've gotten over a foot of snow since Tuesday by way of 2 blizzard-like storms. Sheesh! Someone please tell Mother Nature to slow down. It doesn't all have to hit at once, does it? LOL Are you in the Holiday mood yet? I'm pumped up for the Holidays this year... all 4 of my kids informed me last week that they bought me a plane ticket to Wyoming to visit my oldest son and his family for Christmas! I'm excited beyond belief. I haven't seen them in over two years, since my youngest granddaughter was just born. The drawback is I have a lot of projects that I need to get done in a shorter timeframe, before I go, so I've been kicking butt this past week, and I'll have to continue to do so. But it'll be worth it. :~) Are your Holiday promotions geared up? If not, here's something I came across that you may want to check out. Get Some Traffic From Social Bookmarking Sites by Jim Sansi In case you have been living under a rock and haven't heard, the social bookmarking sites are all the rage with huge amounts of real visitors every day. Even for the small website owner they can prove usefull for pulling in decent amounts of traffic. Let's take a quick and dirty look at four of the more popular social bookmarking sites currently available: Digg. Digg has so many users that a top story can take down an entire site, that's a huge amount of web page visitors! A nifty feature of digg is being able to add the widget to you blog allowing your readers to vote on your stories. StumbleUpon is an interesting site, people download and install the StumbleUpon toolbar and then go "stumble" sites. Not only can you stumble interesting sites you can also put a link back to your own site in your profile where other people can find it. As an added bonus you can even buy traffic from StumbleUpon for a modest cost compared with the major pay per click players. Onlywire allows people to tag web pages of interest but it will do so across many bookmarking sites like Delicious and Furl at the same time. That feature alone can be a huge timesaver when compared to using some of the other sites. Reddit is an incredibly simple and featureless looking site on the surface. Much like the other sites people submit newsworthy stories and then vote on them. However with an Alexa ranking of under one-thousand, Reddit is not to be underestimated as a potential source of good traffic. So that's the quick rundown of the more popular sites. Don't expect to garner hordes of traffic from any one of these sites in particular, however even with a minimal amount of effort you will gain a steady stream of visitors. Most importantly don't spam these sites with garbage or try to trick them into giving you visitors.
